How is a cable different from a wire?
Most of the non-technician people frequently use cable and wire as two synonym words but they are different in many aspects. A cable may be single or group of wires but if you say a wire, then it is a single wire. Most of the cable is insulated and covered with a non-conducting material. And also the individual wire inside the cable can also be insulated individually to prevent the contact between the wires. Now you must have known at least the basic difference between a cable and wire and therefore you must mind the language while using the two words. Sometimes all the wires are twisted and braided together to produce a large and strong wire which can be used for long distance connection. And also in such twisted wires, there is no insulation between and therefore they form a group of wires but it is stronger and flexible than solid wires of smaller size.
